Welcome to Milrig Farmhouse!
Running Milrig Farmhouse Boarding Kennels is a passion and not just a business for us. We are a small dedicated team who put your dog’s welfare and happiness as our priority.
Where are we?
Our small boarding kennels at Milrig are based in Kirknewton, set in West Lothian’s rural surroundings within easy reach of Edinburgh’s air and rail links.
There are both single and family kennels available, kennels are all internal, heated and have separate external covered runs. We provide beds and bedding for your dog, but it is nice to have the familiar smell of home, so please do feel free to bring familiar blanket or toy, especially for initial stays.
We have a lot of fun spending our day with the dogs in our care and want to ensure they have as much fun as we do!
Our focus is on ensuring dogs enjoy regular breaks from their kennel for playtime in our exercise field. We find that dogs who have had plenty of fun and stimulation are happier and more settled in a kennel environment. And for our more mature guests regular strolls and toilet stops are vital.
With this aim in mind there is at least 12 hours a day spent with our guests, due to this we feel we build a bond with each dog in our care and have been fortunate to see familiar faces come back again and again!
We do enjoy socialising our dogs together but only if we feel this will add to the dog’s enjoyment of staying at Milrig and have owners’ permission. Many friendships have been formed here which has been lovely to watch, but equally we are happy to step in and offer ourselves up as a play buddy, or cuddle companion...whatever they so desire.
All dogs boarding in kennels must be up to date with their annual booster and also their Kennel Cough vaccine. Please ensure the kennel cough vaccine is done at least ten days before the dog arrives at the kennels. Vaccination cards must be brought with your dog and kept during their stay.
